MBEZI WARD IMPLEMENTS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS WITHIN PRESIDENT SAMIA’S 100 DAYS

Mbezi Ward, located in Ubungo Municipal Council in Dar es Salaam City, has benefited from the implementation of various development projects worth more than TZS 23 billion within the first 100 days of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Speaking to journalists today in the ward, the Mbezi Ward Councillor, Mr. Nyantori Pius, said the implemented projects include the construction of bridges, construction and rehabilitation of roads, rehabilitation of 12 schools, and the completion of the Msakuzi Health Center.

He explained that the Government, through President Samia, allocated TZS 1.8 billion for the construction of bridges, more than TZS 600 million for the rehabilitation of 12 schools, and over TZS 19 billion for the construction of the Msumi Road, which is expected to be completed in April this year.

Mr. Nyantori added that President Samia’s efforts to reach grassroots communities have played a major role in addressing various challenges, particularly infrastructure-related issues, which will facilitate access to social and economic services for residents of five streets within the ward.

Regarding the health sector, Councillor Nyantori said that the Msakuzi Dispensary has already been officially handed over and has begun providing services to residents, alongside the Mpiji Magohe facility, which has been upgraded from a dispensary to a health center.

In the water sector, he noted that the ward has benefited from water projects despite challenges of water shortages caused by the ongoing drought. He stated that President Samia has allocated more than TZS 1.9 billion for the Msumi Street water project, whose construction has already commenced.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Mbezi Street Government, Mr. Louis Bawaziri Hassan Tandala, said that within President Samia’s 100 days, residents of the area have benefited from the construction of the Kasambala Bridge worth over TZS 600 million, which previously posed a major challenge, especially to students during the rainy season.

Speaking on the education sector, he said that Mbezi Primary School has received more than TZS 45 million for the rehabilitation of building infrastructure to improve the learning environment, as well as more than TZS 47 million for the construction of a Teachers’ Center that will be used for meetings and academic activities.

However, despite these achievements, Chairperson Tandala noted that the ward still faces challenges, including a sharp increase in student enrollment in a single school and water shortages in some areas, despite the presence of water supply systems covering up to 99 percent of the ward.
