GOVERNMENT PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR “GUARDIANS OF THE PEAK” SEASON TWO, EMPHASIZES ROLE OF FILM IN PROMOTING TOURISM AND CONSERVATION




The Government, through the Tanzania Film Board, has reaffirmed its commitment to continue recognizing and supporting stakeholders who use film as a tool to promote tourism and environmental conservation in the country.

This was stated today, January 14, 2026, in Dar es Salaam by the Director of Film Development, Mr. Emmanuel Ndumukwa, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Tanzania Film Board, Dr. Gervas Kasiga, during a press conference held at King Jada Hotel, Kinondoni–Morocco, ahead of the official launch of the production of the documentary Guardians of the Peak – Season Two.

Mr. Ndumukwa said the Guardians of the Peak project is firmly rooted in the protection and preservation of Mount Kilimanjaro, which is not only a national heritage site but also an international symbol of Tanzania. He explained that through this second season, the world will witness environmental challenges and climate change impacts, the importance of natural resource conservation, and Tanzania’s efforts to safeguard its natural heritage while promoting sustainable tourism opportunities.

He further assured the project organizers that the Government, through the Tanzania Film Board, will continue to support this initiative and other projects that use film as a tool for positive change, public education, and the global promotion of Tanzania.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Ram Films and founder of the project stated that Guardians of the Peak has become an important platform linking environmental issues, film creativity, and people-to-people diplomacy. He noted that the project has also strengthened and sustained friendly cooperation between Tanzania and China, particularly in the areas of film, tourism, and environmental conservation.

He called upon film and performing arts stakeholders, government institutions, the private sector, and the media to continue supporting Guardians of the Peak – Season Two and similar initiatives for the broader interests of the nation.

The documentary Guardians of the Peak – Season Two was officially introduced today, January 14, 2026, aiming to further environmental conservation efforts and promote sustainable tourism, especially around Mount Kilimanjaro. Production of the documentary is scheduled to officially begin on January 20, 2026.
