📌 Launch of the African Energy Efficiency Strategy and Action Plan


The Minister for Energy, Hon. Deogratius Ndejembi, arrived today, December 9, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to participate in the Conference of Energy Ministers from African Union (AU) Member States. The conference aims to discuss and establish strategies to promote efficient energy use across the African continent.


The two-day conference will bring together AU member countries to exchange experiences on strategies, plans, challenges, and financing mechanisms for implementing projects that enhance energy efficiency in Africa.


During the conference, the African Energy Efficiency Strategy and Action Plan—aligned with the aspirations of the 1963 African Development Agenda—will also be officially launched.


The event is preceded by a training program for energy sector experts, aimed at building capacity in reducing electricity consumption in buildings, industries, transport, and households.


Minister Ndejembi is accompanied by the Commissioner for Electricity and Renewable Energy, Engineer Innocent Luoga.


Upon arrival in Ethiopia, the Minister was received by Tanzania’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Hon. Innocent Shiyo.
