VICE PRESIDENT DR. NCHIMBI ARRIVES IN ZAMBIA TO REPRESENT PRESIDENT SAMIA AT THE LAUNCH OF THE MAJOR TAZARA RAILWAY REHABILITATION PROJECT.






The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, has arrived in Lusaka, Zambia today, November 19, 2025, to represent the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony marking the launch of the major rehabilitation of the TAZARA Railway, scheduled to take place on November 20, 2025, in Lusaka.


At Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, the Vice President was received by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Zambia, Hon. Dr. Elijah Muchima, the Ambassador of Tanzania to Zambia, Hon. Lieutenant General Mathew Mkingule, senior officials from both the Republic of Zambia and the United Republic of Tanzania, as well as various cultural groups organized in his honor.


Alongside other leaders, Vice President Dr. Nchimbi is accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Prof. Godius Kahyarara, the Director General of Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC), Eng. Machibya Masanja, and the Director General of TASAC, Mr. Mohamed Salum.

*Government Launches 15274 Hotline to Ease Access to National ID Information

Dar es Salaam: The Government has urged citizens to use their mobile phones by dialing *15274 to easily access information related to National Identification Cards (NIDA). Speaking today, December 29, 2025, the Minister for Home Affairs, George Simbachawene, said the service will enable citizens to check the status of their National ID cards, including whether the card has been produced or not, with feedback provided within five days. He explained that through this number, citizens will receive important information regarding their National IDs, adding that damaged ID cards are expected to be replaced starting February 2026. “By using this number, you will be able to get information on whether your ID card has been produced. I emphasize that damaged ID cards will be issued in February 2026,” said Minister Simbachawene.
