Tanzania Bloggers Network (TBN) Clarifies on State House Meeting
The Director of Presidential Communications, State House, Mr. Bakari Machumu, speaks with online journalists and various bloggers at the State House in Dar es Salaam as part of his introductory meeting and to receive their views. The engagement is part of a series of meetings with media stakeholders aimed at strengthening communication between the Directorate of Presidential Communications and the media. (27 November 2025).
Dar es Salaam
The Tanzania Bloggers Network (TBN) wishes to issue an official clarification and set the record straight following misleading and confusing information circulating on social media regarding a recent meeting held at the State House.
TBN strongly refutes claims being spread by some individuals identifying themselves as activists, alleging—without any evidence—that online content creators were summoned to the State House in Dar es Salaam to be “given instructions” concerning the purported demonstrations scheduled for December 9.
True Purpose of the Meeting
TBN confirms that these allegations are false and have been deliberately distorted.
The actual and straightforward purpose of the State House invitation was this:
The new Director of Presidential Communications, Mr. Bakari Machumu, held an official introductory meeting with key stakeholders in the media sector, beginning with online content creators.
The meeting was an important step in establishing the foundation for improved collaboration and communication. There was no hidden agenda, nor any behind-the-scenes maneuvering. Any statements circulating to the contrary should be dismissed as baseless and misleading.
Call for Calm and Ethical Conduct
TBN expresses disappointment over the sharing of a short video clip from the meeting by certain individuals, including politicians, with the intent to create controversy and scandal out of a routine professional engagement.
We emphasize the importance of promoting a national culture of respectful and truthful dialogue. Acts of fabricating stories and spreading misinformation undermine the media industry and efforts to build public understanding.
TBN commends Mr. Machumu for demonstrating a willingness to collaborate with all media stakeholders. We encourage him to continue his work, confident that transparency and calm are the strongest tools against misinformation.
We urge citizens and all stakeholders to prioritize wisdom, truth, and patriotism, and to reject any information that may cause division or public tension in the country.
