The Ministry of Energy and its institutions have continued to use various platforms to educate citizens about clean cooking energy. This time, the awareness campaign is being conducted at the World Food Day commemoration taking place at the Usagara grounds in Tanga City.


Officiating the event today, the Regional Commissioner of Tanga, Ambassador Dr. Batilda Burian, commended the Ministry of Energy and its institutions for participating in the commemoration, which is expected to conclude on October 16 this year.


Dr. Burian highlighted that clean cooking energy directly contributes to food-related matters, as the government is currently emphasizing the use of clean energy for cooking.


While visiting the Ministry of Energy’s pavilion, Dr. Burian was briefed by an expert from the Ministry, Mr. Omari Khalifa, who explained that the Ministry, in collaboration with its agencies, is implementing the National Clean Cooking Energy Agenda championed by Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.


Khalifa further noted that during the commemoration, the Ministry of Energy—through its agency, the Rural Energy Agency (REA)—is selling approximately 500 six-kilogram gas cookers at a subsidized price of TSh 17,500 to residents of Tanga. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to achieve 80 percent household adoption of clean cooking energy by the year 2034.

*Government Launches 15274 Hotline to Ease Access to National ID Information

Dar es Salaam: The Government has urged citizens to use their mobile phones by dialing *15274 to easily access information related to National Identification Cards (NIDA). Speaking today, December 29, 2025, the Minister for Home Affairs, George Simbachawene, said the service will enable citizens to check the status of their National ID cards, including whether the card has been produced or not, with feedback provided within five days. He explained that through this number, citizens will receive important information regarding their National IDs, adding that damaged ID cards are expected to be replaced starting February 2026. “By using this number, you will be able to get information on whether your ID card has been produced. I emphasize that damaged ID cards will be issued in February 2026,” said Minister Simbachawene.
