The Conservation Commissioner of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), Mr. Abdul-Razak Badru, has officially launched training for tourism investment stakeholders on the newly introduced digital system known as the Makazi Online Portal (MoPO). The initiative aims to enhance transparency and fairness in the allocation of tourist campsites, particularly in the Ndutu area of Ngorongoro.
In his opening remarks, Commissioner Badru emphasized that the creation of the Makazi Online Portal is intended to improve customer service in the conservation and tourism sector by leveraging technology to meet the needs of stakeholders operating within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
> “The system we have designed is vital in today’s world for improving service delivery based on transparency, fairness, and efficiency. We believe every stakeholder will now receive timely and impartial service,” said Commissioner Badru.
During the training, ICT and investment experts conducted seminars for participants on how to use the Makazi Online Portal, including how to apply for campsite slots, track applications, and receive real-time updates on the status of their applications.
The Makazi Online Portal—attended by over 150 tourism investment stakeholders—is expected to provide a long-term solution for campsite allocation at Ndutu, replacing the previous system that required applicants to submit written requests to the Commissioner. The new system enhances transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the campsite allocation process.
