COMMISSIONER BADRU INSPECTS TOURISM INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS AT NDUTU

The Conservation Commissioner of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), Mr. Abdul-Razaq Badru, conducted a visit to the Ndutu area within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to inspect ongoing upgrades of tourism infrastructure ahead of the upcoming tourism season. Ndutu is widely known for being a key calving ground for the migrating wildebeests.

During the visit, Commissioner Badru inspected the construction of a 6-meter-high water tank tower, which, upon completion, will have a capacity of 50,000 liters. The tank will serve visiting tourists, officers, and rangers stationed in the Ndutu sector, as well as nearby lodges and tented camps.

Commissioner Badru also stated that the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority will continue to improve the conditions of the Ndutu airstrip to make it more suitable for aircraft bringing tourists to the area. During the wildebeest calving and migration season, which runs from December to March, between 15 and 20 small aircraft land daily at the airstrip carrying tourists.

In his visit, Commissioner Badru also held discussions with conservation rangers in the Ndutu sector regarding the implementation of their duties, emphasizing the need to strengthen the security of tourists, their property, and the conservation of wildlife and forest resources in the area.
