The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Hon. Albert Chalamila, has warned groups attempting to incite violence during the election period through social media platforms, emphasizing that security agencies are vigilant and ready to take firm action against anyone found instigating or planning acts of violence.
He also urged the public to promptly report any signs of unrest to security authorities.
Speaking at a press conference in Dar es Salaam, RC Chalamila stated that the region has more than four million registered voters and that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has completed all the necessary preparations to facilitate smooth voting for citizens.
He further noted that security organs are fully prepared to ensure safety and stability before, during, and after the election.
Chalamila assured that the Government is committed to guaranteeing every citizen’s constitutional right to vote freely, without fear or disturbance, describing voting as a fundamental democratic right.
Additionally, he called on Dar es Salaam residents to ignore false reports circulating online alleging that violence will erupt during the election, stressing that the region is peaceful and that citizens should come out in large numbers to cast their votes.
He also urged media outlets to uphold professionalism and avoid misinformation, pointing out that the media is a vital pillar that connects citizens with their Government.
Furthermore, Chalamila appealed to local leaders—from street to ward level—to protect public infrastructure, including electricity facilities and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) roads, emphasizing that the BRT lanes must not be used by unauthorized vehicles.
