PCCB Kinondoni Monitors Projects Worth Over One Billion Shillings, Uncovers Irregularities in Health Sector Projects.

Dar es Salaam.

The Regional Head of the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) Kinondoni, Christian Nyakizee, has said that the bureau monitored development projects worth over one billion shillings between April and June 2025 and uncovered irregularities in some health sector projects.

Nyakizee said that the construction project of an infectious diseases building at Kijitonyama Dispensary was found to have inflated costs compared to the actual value of the structure. Meanwhile, the construction of a surgical theatre and maternity ward at Mpiji Magohe Dispensary in Ubungo Municipality had defects, including six aluminum windows whose seals were not properly installed, causing broken glass and water leakages during rainfall.

He stated that measures taken included launching a value-for-money investigation and convening a meeting with Ubungo Municipal Council stakeholders, who agreed to correct the identified defects.

Additionally, Nyakizee said PCCB conducted 23 seminars, 20 public meetings, 7 exhibitions, 5 radio programs, and strengthened 28 anti-corruption clubs in schools and colleges. These initiatives enhanced project supervision efficiency and encouraged citizens to report corruption incidents.

Through the PCCB Rafiki program, 12 meetings were held and 40 grievances resolved, including the recovery of 10 missing chairs from Tandale Ward Office, which were returned and handed back to local leaders.

Nyakizee further revealed that 120 complaints were received during the period, 76 of which related to corruption and are at various stages of investigation, while 27 cases are currently in court.

For the July–September 2025 quarter, he noted that PCCB Kinondoni will continue to educate citizens on the dangers of corruption and encourage their participation in combating the vice ahead of the General Election.

> “Preventing corruption is our shared responsibility. Let us all play our part,” stressed Nyakizee, urging citizens to continue reporting incidents of corruption through PCCB offices or by calling the free hotline 113.
