ENGINEER MRAMBA AND JICA DISCUSS IMPLEMENTATION OF ENERGY PROJECTS
📌 Power transmission projects from Tanzania to Uganda and the Dodoma Ring Circuit
📌 Urges JICA to build the capacity of local experts in the design of natural gas distribution networks
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba, has met with experts from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to discuss the progress of energy projects funded by the agency, with the aim of ensuring timely and efficient implementation.
The meeting, held on September 8, 2025, at the Ministry of Energy offices in Mtumba, Dodoma, also covered the need to strengthen the capacity of experts from the Ministry of Energy, the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), and the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) in designing natural gas distribution networks.
Key projects that were thoroughly discussed include the Uganda-Tanzania Interconnection Project (UTIP) and the Dodoma Ring Circuit project, which is designed to enhance power supply reliability in Dodoma.
During the meeting, Eng. Mramba emphasized to JICA the importance of implementing the pilot project for natural gas distribution in the Government City of Mtumba, Dodoma. The project is expected to demonstrate the benefits of the natural gas discovered in Tanzania and promote the use of clean cooking energy.
Furthermore, Mramba thanked JICA for funding energy projects that have significantly contributed to the country’s development, particularly in the rapidly growing capital city of Dodoma.
