The ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in Geita Region today, September 2, 2025, officially launched its campaign to promote the CCM Manifesto 2025–2030 ahead of the upcoming General Election. It was revealed that so far, 7 out of 9 parliamentary constituencies and 92 out of 122 wards in the region have gone unopposed.
The guest of honor at the launch held in Uyovu Ward, Bukombe District, Geita Region, was the CCM Regional Chairman, Nicholaus Kasendamila. He stated that CCM is entering the campaign trail with strong capital in integrity, trust, hard work, and the wisdom of its presidential candidate, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
He said that through Dr. Samia, CCM has every reason to seek the people’s mandate to continue leading the nation, citing major achievements including the modernization of Dar es Salaam Port—Tanzania’s main trade gateway, the construction of the Busisi Bridge, the completion of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (2,115 MW), and the start of operations for the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
Kasendamila highlighted the implementation of the CCM 2020–2025 Manifesto in Geita, noting that 151 new primary schools and 118 new secondary schools have been built, along with two referral hospitals, four district hospitals, and 17 new health centers.
He added that 69 dispensaries have been established, 7,600 mining licenses have been issued to small-scale miners, and all 486 villages in the region are now connected to electricity—compared to just 362 before the Sixth Phase Government came into power.
On infrastructure, he emphasized the ongoing construction of tarmac and gravel roads to improve transport within the region. He outlined CCM’s priority areas in the new manifesto, including expanding economic opportunities for citizens and further developing sectors such as health, education, mining, and energy.
He urged citizens to vote for CCM, assuring them that their votes would translate into more development.
Speaking on behalf of parliamentary candidates in Geita, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Hon. Dr. Doto Biteko—who is also the unopposed MP-elect for Bukombe Constituency—thanked residents for turning out in large numbers, describing it as a sign of their love for CCM and satisfaction with Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership.
He said this year’s election will send a message both nationally and internationally about Tanzania’s democracy, and encouraged citizens to participate by voting, promising that what has been achieved so far is just a glimpse of greater progress ahead.
Dr. Biteko emphasized Geita’s growing economy, noting it is among the top five economic regions in Tanzania and the leading gold producer. He affirmed that the hardworking people of Geita will vote for Dr. Samia to secure further development.
Looking ahead to the 2025 General Election, he stressed the importance of unity, calling for peaceful and respectful campaigns:
> “This election is about our development. We want better roads, electricity, healthcare, and business capital. Let us not take this election lightly because it carries great meaning for our lives,” Dr. Biteko said.
Highlighting progress in Bukombe Constituency, Dr. Biteko mentioned the ongoing construction of a VETA vocational training center, the establishment of an Arusha Institute of Accountancy branch, the increase of primary schools to 104, secondary schools to 25, and five advanced-level schools. He added that every village is now electrified, and a 5 MW solar power plant—the second largest after Kigoma—is being built in Bukombe, alongside the construction of the Ushirombo–Katoro tarmac road.
He further urged citizens to turn out in large numbers to welcome CCM’s vice-presidential running mate, Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, who is expected to begin his tour of Geita Region on September 5, 2025.
Earlier, CCM Geita Regional Secretary, Alexandrina Katabi, revealed that Geita has about 1,532,408 registered voters, of which 524,000 are CCM members—making up nearly half of all registered voters in the region.
She confirmed that out of the 9 parliamentary constituencies, 7 have already gone unopposed, while 92 out of 122 wards have also gone unopposed, with opposition candidates contesting in the remaining areas.
