TANESCO Launches Whistleblower Portal for Confidential Reporting
By Our Reporter, Dar es Salaam
The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) has launched a Whistleblower Portal aimed at simplifying the process of receiving vital information from the public regarding activities that negatively impact electricity services in the country.
Speaking to the media in Dar es Salaam, TANESCO’s Acting Director of Communications and Customer Service, Ms. Irene Gowele, described the platform as a significant step toward strengthening accountability, preventing crime, and safeguarding sensitive information from potential threats.
"For a long time, our company has faced challenges that hinder the provision of reliable electricity services, including theft, vandalism of infrastructure, and corruption involving some employees," said Ms. Gowele.
She emphasized that all reports submitted through the portal will be treated with the highest level of confidentiality and acted upon promptly. "As an organization, we are fully committed to addressing all issues reported via this platform," she added.
TANESCO has urged citizens across the country to actively use this system to protect the company’s resources and the nation’s interests as a whole.
The company highlighted the available reporting channels, which include visiting the official TANESCO website at www.tanesco.co.tz, clicking on the Whistleblower Portal link, and filling out a secure form. Alternatively, individuals can call the toll-free number 180, then press 2 to speak directly with a service representative.
Meanwhile, TANESCO continues its nationwide campaign, “Lipa Deni Tukuhudumie” (“Pay Your Debt, Let Us Serve You”), to ensure customers receive timely and efficient services in their respective areas.
