The Tanzania Beekeeping Platform (TABEDO), participating under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism pavilion at the 2025 NaneNane Agricultural Exhibition, has continued its campaign to educate the public on opportunities, knowledge, and modern beekeeping technologies.
Through collaboration with the government via the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and its institutions including the Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS), TABEDO has positioned itself as a hub for knowledge, products, and services related to beekeeping for both individual and national development.
“We are using this platform to promote modern beekeeping, showcase products such as honey, beeswax, and bee-based supplements, and also to educate citizens on the importance of joining our platform,” said TABEDO Secretary, Ms. Catherine Peter.
She explained that the digital registration system introduced by TABEDO aims to reach more Tanzanians, even those unable to attend the exhibition grounds. Through TABEDO's website, citizens can easily register for a fee of only TZS 7,175.
The website is: www.tabedo.or.tz
Ms. Peter stated that the system has been designed for ease of use and accurate access to information, while also strengthening coordination and communication between members and TABEDO leadership at all levels.
“For those who need further assistance, we encourage them to contact TABEDO representatives in their respective regions or reach out directly to the platform’s office,” she added.
According to TABEDO, the beekeeping sector significantly contributes to environmental conservation, crop production through pollination, and household income generation—especially for youth and women involved in bee product entrepreneurship.
Additionally, the platform emphasized that joint efforts among all stakeholders—including government institutions, environmental education colleges, entrepreneurs, and civil society organizations—can lead to significant advancements in the productivity of the beekeeping sector.
“We need collaboration to grow this sector. Bees are not just a source of honey—they are a vital pillar of human life and environmental sustainability,” Ms. Peter emphasized.
