PRESIDENT SAMIA INAUGURATES EAST AFRICA COMMERCIAL AND LOGISTICS CENTRE IN UBUNGO.

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, today officiated the grand opening of the East Africa Commercial and Logistics Centre (EACLC), located in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam.


The state-of-the-art facility has been established to strengthen regional and international trade while providing world-class logistics and transportation services within and beyond East Africa. EACLC is part of the Government’s strategic initiatives to promote industrialization and enhance trade through Tanzania’s commercial hub, Dar es Salaam.


Speaking during the launch, President Samia underscored that the centre is a testament to the Government’s commitment to improving trade and transport infrastructure, positioning Tanzania as a leading business hub in East and Central Africa.


“This centre will not only create more jobs for our youth but will also enable local businesses to participate in regional and global value chains. This is a major step towards building a competitive economy,” she said.


The EACLC comprises modern warehouses, offices for logistics companies, trade exhibition spaces, as well as financial services, customs, and cargo inspection facilities equipped with advanced technology.


The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior government officials, ambassadors from East African countries, private sector investors, and representatives of international trade and logistics institutions.


During the event, President Samia also launched several digital services aimed at facilitating cross-border goods movement, including the Electronic Cargo Tracking System.


She urged investors, traders, and citizens to fully utilize the facility to accelerate social and economic development for Tanzania and the entire East African region.
