MYUMBILWA URGES TANZANIANS TO UTILIZE GST RESEARCH IN MINING, AGRICULTURE, AND CONSTRUCTION
The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST), Ms. Yokbeth Myumbilwa, has called on Tanzanians to make use of the research conducted by the institution in various sectors including mining, agriculture, water, and construction.
Speaking in Dodoma during her visit to the GST pavilion at the climax of the Nane Nane Farmers’ Exhibition — held nationally at the John Malecela grounds — Ms. Myumbilwa urged Tanzanians to apply GST’s research findings in their activities, particularly in mining, agriculture, and construction.
She emphasized that Tanzanians should access various publications produced by GST, including “Minerals Found in Tanzania” and “Industrial Minerals”, which provide detailed information on the types of minerals available across all regions of the country.
“I encourage Tanzanians to visit the offices of the Geological Survey of Tanzania to obtain these publications, which contain extensive information about minerals found at village, district, and regional levels,” said Myumbilwa.
In addition, she used the opportunity to invite residents of Dodoma and neighboring regions to visit the GST pavilion to learn and receive important information regarding agricultural minerals in the country.
“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Tanzanians and all visitors attending the Nane Nane exhibition to stop by the GST pavilion and access information about agricultural minerals used in fertilizer production,” she added.
Furthermore, she commended GST for developing a map that shows various minerals used to restore soil fertility in areas with specific mineral deficiencies, noting that the map will greatly assist farmers in improving soil health in agricultural areas.
