MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF KOREA VISIT THE REGIONAL COMMISSIONER’S OFFICE IN DAR ES SALAAM




Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Hon. Albert Chalamila, today, August 12, 2025, received honorable members of the National Assembly of Korea at his office in Dar es Salaam.

The distinguished Korean lawmakers who visited the Regional Commissioner’s office and held discussions with him were Hon. Lee Jae Jung, Hon. Kim Hyung Dong, Hon. Boo Seung Chan, and Hon. Lee Bang Woo.

Speaking after welcoming the guests at his Ilala Boma office, RC Chalamila said the region is proud to host major projects resulting from the friendly cooperation between the two nations. He highlighted some of the flagship projects under Korea’s Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) as well as new opportunities for further collaboration, such as the construction of Mloganzila Hospital—funded through a concessional loan from Korea’s Exim Bank—the Tanzanite Bridge project, and the National Identity Data Center.

He further noted that Korea has supported various sectors, including construction, port transport, environmental management, waste management, and capacity building. Additionally, Korean companies have contributed significantly to projects under the Dar es Salaam Metropolitan Development Project (DMDP), the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, and major bridges.

On his part, Dar es Salaam Regional Administrative Secretary, Mr. Abdul Mhite, said the region is blessed with numerous development opportunities. On behalf of the Government and the people, he warmly welcomed the Korean MPs and expressed the hope that cooperation between the two sides will continue for the mutual benefit of the peoples of Tanzania and Korea.

In conclusion, the Regional Commissioner commended Korea for its expertise, investment, and genuine friendship, and urged the continuation of this strong foundation of partnership to build a future filled with innovation, inclusivity, and shared prosperity for both nations.
