LET’S ENSURE YOUTH ACCESS VOCATIONAL TRAINING – MAJALIWA"
The Prime Minister of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa, has urged parents and guardians across the country to ensure they enroll their children in vocational training programs coordinated by the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) and the Prime Minister’s Office. The goal is to equip youth with practical skills that will help them become self-employed and contribute to national development.
Speaking after inspecting training workshops at the VETA College in Ruangwa District, Lindi Region, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Government has made significant investments in improving the infrastructure of vocational training institutions and coordinating training programs to ensure young people acquire skills that meet current and future labor market demands.
“The Government is strongly committed to ensuring Tanzanian youth are equipped with relevant skills. VETA training and programs offered by the Prime Minister’s Office enable our young people to gain employment or become self-employed, which is a major step forward for their families and for the country at large,” said the Prime Minister.
While interacting with some students during his visit to the workshops, Prime Minister Majaliwa expressed satisfaction with how the training programs have had a direct positive impact on the students.
For his part, the Acting Head of the College, Mohamed Salum, said that VETA Ruangwa is continuously improving and expanding its course offerings to align with labor market needs. He mentioned ongoing efforts including the introduction of new trades and investment in modern training equipment.
A beneficiary of the Prime Minister’s Office training program, Maganga Salum, said that before joining the college, he had no skills at all. However, through the training, he has now acquired technical skills and is optimistic about becoming self-employed after graduation. “We are ready and well-prepared to enter the workforce,” he said.
During the visit, the Prime Minister also inspected a hostel under construction for the Namungo Football Club and toured the Kassim Majaliwa Sports Stadium in Ruangwa, which is set to be equipped with seats in the spectator stands.
