Farmers Urged to Visit Nane Nane Exhibition Stalls to Learn New Technologies
Mbeya Regional Commissioner, Hon. Benno Malisa, has called on farmers and the general public to visit Nane Nane exhibition stalls to learn modern farming techniques and new technologies aimed at improving productivity and increasing efficiency.
Malisa made this call on behalf of the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa, during the official opening of the Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibition for the Southern Highlands Zone held at John Mwakangale Grounds in Mbeya City.
In his opening speech, Hon. Malisa emphasized that the exhibition serves as a vital platform for farmers, researchers, agricultural stakeholders, and policymakers to share knowledge and experiences with the goal of enhancing productivity in the agricultural sector.
While visiting the Tanzania Fertilizer Regulatory Authority (TFRA) pavilion, Hon. Malisa urged the authority to allocate a special area within the exhibition grounds dedicated to educating farmers on the proper use of fertilizers.
Speaking on behalf of TFRA’s Executive Director, Joel Laurent, the Zonal Manager, Mr. Joshua Ngóndya, highlighted the services offered by TFRA to help farmers use fertilizers efficiently. These services include registering fertilizer stakeholders in the input subsidy system, providing education on the entire fertilizer quality control chain, and offering farmers guidance on the proper application of fertilizers based on crop and soil requirements.
Regarding the regional directive, Mr. Ngóndya explained that farmers visiting the TFRA pavilion first receive preliminary education at the stand before being taken to demonstration plots prepared within the grounds, where they are trained on practical fertilizer application techniques.
TFRA continues to provide services to farmers across various regions in the country, including Dodoma, Mwanza, Arusha, Morogoro, Lindi, and Simiyu.
