DR. MWAISOBWA RECEIVES PRESS CARD.

Dr. Cosmas Mwaisobwa, Assistant to the Vice President (Speeches), has received a Press Card from the Acting Executive Director of the Journalists Accreditation Board (JAB), Advocate Patrick Kipangula.

Dr. Mwaisobwa was issued the Press Card today, August 5, 2025, after meeting all the legal requirements, including possessing higher education qualifications as stipulated in the Media Services Act of 2016. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Communication.

Mwaisobwa is among the few professionals in the country with a Ph.D. in Public Communication and Journalism to be accredited and issued a Press Card, following in the footsteps of Dr. Egbert Mkoko (Board Member) and Dr. Ayoub Chacha Rioba (Director General of the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation – TBC).

Speaking after presenting the Press Card, Advocate Kipangula congratulated Dr. Mwaisobwa for fulfilling the legal requirements and urged other journalists who have not yet registered to do so to continue practicing journalism without contravening the law.

Advocate Kipangula further stated that the Journalists Accreditation Board (JAB) has so far received over 3,200 applications for accreditation and issuance of Press Cards. Out of these, 2,109 applications have been approved as of August 5, 2025, while 43 have been rejected for failing to meet the requirements, and 674 applications are still being processed.
