As part of ongoing efforts to encourage and promote the use of clean energy among Tanzanians, the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) is using the ongoing Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibition in Dodoma to educate the public on the benefits of using Rafiki Briquettes clean energy.

Speaking during an awareness session at STAMICO’s pavilion, the Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Mr. Deus Alex, emphasized the corporation’s commitment to ensuring this energy source reaches as many people as possible in order to reduce the use of firewood and charcoal derived from trees.

He added that, during the exhibition, STAMICO has also showcased crushed stone products for Tanzanians who need them for both large and small-scale construction projects. The production of these aggregates is carried out at Chigongwe along the Singida road.

Explaining the nature of this energy, Deus clarified that the briquettes are made from coal residues extracted from the Kabulo – Kiwira coal mine in Songwe region. These residues undergo an industrial process that reduces heat and removes harmful gases, making them safe for household use.

Alongside this initiative, Deus invited small-scale miners to visit the exhibition to access education and services related to mining at the Ministry of Minerals’ pavilions.

Through STAMICO, the government has so far purchased 15 machines to assist small-scale miners in increasing productivity in the mining sector across the country.

Additionally, the Chairperson of Wanawake na Samia in Dodoma region urged all participants and Tanzanians at large to visit the container located at the old Dodoma Municipality area, Sabasaba grounds, to access clean energy products like Rafiki Briquettes.

On her part, Ms. Elizabeth Bundala from the Foundation for Disabilities Hope called upon all Tanzanians to visit the pavilions under the Ministry of Minerals to learn more about the mineral value chain.
