TZS 67.507 Billion to Strengthen Secondary Education in Lindi and Pwani Regions.



The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, through the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP), has allocated TZS 31.716 billion to Lindi Region for the construction of various school infrastructures, including 28 new ward secondary schools.

The funds have also been used to build one regional girls’ boarding school, one zonal boys’ boarding school, one regional vocational school, three district vocational schools, 18 teachers’ houses, 11 dormitories, 18 classrooms, and 52 pit latrines in secondary schools.

In addition, through the same SEQUIP program, the government has allocated TZS 35.791 billion to Pwani Region for the renovation of old schools, construction of new ward secondary schools, a girls’ school, a zonal boys’ school, dormitories, classrooms, and toilet facilities in secondary schools.


Moreover, under this project, the government has constructed teachers’ houses in 12 ward secondary schools under the first phase (2-in-1 model), built dormitories, and rehabilitated unfinished structures for classrooms, laboratories, and toilets.

The funds have also been used to construct 11 ward secondary schools, two national vocational schools in Rufiji and Chalinze, and four standard vocational schools under the first phase. The project has also supported the expansion of existing secondary schools to offer A-Level education by building additional dormitories, 30 classrooms, 25 dormitories, and 116 toilet facilities across 12 secondary schools.
