TSh 12 Billion from President Samia Completes Construction of Secondary Schools in Rukwa and Katavi.
The sixth-phase government led by H.E. President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has completed the construction of two modern vocational secondary schools in Kibondo District, Tabora Region, and Mlele District in Katavi Region, at a cost of TSh 3.2 billion.
Additionally, the government has spent TSh 8.8 billion to finalize the construction of two girls’ secondary schools—Rukwa Girls’ Secondary School in Sumbawanga District and Katavi Girls’ Secondary School in Nsimbo District. Both schools are now operational, aimed at strengthening the education sector in these regions and the country at large.
These schools were built under the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP), as part of the implementation of the 2020–2025 CCM party manifesto, which emphasizes the improvement of the education sector in Tanzania.
The infrastructure constructed at the Katavi and Rukwa girls’ schools includes science laboratories (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Geography), classrooms, staff offices, toilets, dormitories, teachers’ houses, administration blocks, dining halls, ICT buildings, waste disposal systems, and perimeter fencing.
In Mlele District, the construction of the new vocational secondary school includes classrooms and offices, a library, an administration building, Chemistry and Biology laboratories, an ICT building, four dormitories, a dining hall, two vocational training workshops, a teacher’s house, and sanitation facilities.
