THE UHURU TORCH CAPTIVATES TOURISTS IN NGORONGORO.

Some tourists who were on their regular safari in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, found themselves filled with joy after witnessing the Uhuru Torch entering Karatu District from Ngorongoro District, Arusha Region.
The tourists were seen stopping their vehicles to watch the Uhuru Torch, a national symbol, being carried through the area. The torchbearers, full of excitement, energized the public as they ran with the flame.
"Today, I feel deeply honored to see the Uhuru Torch with my own eyes while in Tanzania. I’ve read about its history and stories of how it unites Tanzanians. Personally, I think it’s an inspiring initiative—witnessing a nation come together through such a powerful symbol,” said Ms. Gracay Anderson from Hungary.
What amazed the tourists most was witnessing hundreds of Tanzanians gathered at the Karatu junction to receive and escort the Torch through Karatu District. They were led by various government leaders, political and religious figures, as well as local artists from the Maasai, Datoga, and Hadzabe tribes.
“I truly enjoyed seeing Tanzanians united as they ran with this Torch. Back home, we only read about Tanzania and its attractions, but today I believe it—this really is a peaceful country. It's clear your leaders have done a great job promoting unity and togetherness,” said Mr. Lionel Greenwich from the United Kingdom.
Currently, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is experiencing a significant influx of tourists from various countries around the world. This growing interest is largely due to government efforts and private sector stakeholders promoting Tanzania’s tourism attractions on the global stage.
