TBN Commends Government for Offering Professional Training to Bloggers Ahead of General Election.

 The Tanzania Bloggers Network (TBN) has expressed its gratitude to the government for approving a special training program aimed at enhancing the professionalism and patriotism of its members ahead of the upcoming General Election scheduled for October this year.

The training is expected to involve over 200 bloggers, including those in the diaspora who were among the founding members of the network since its establishment in 2015.

Speaking to the media, TBN Chairman Beda Msimbe said:
“We have held discussions with the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), the main regulator of content, and they have confirmed that they are in the final stages of implementing the government’s directive to offer training to all bloggers in the country.”

Msimbe explained that the training aims to build the bloggers’ professional capacity, enhance vigilance in combating fake news, and empower them to disseminate accurate information that will help citizens make informed decisions during the election.

“We need to remind ourselves about this country, our constitution, peace, and the importance of elections in our type of democracy. The government’s decision to sharpen our skills is extremely important,” Msimbe emphasized.

He expressed satisfaction with the government’s efforts to implement the training program, noting that the request had been submitted earlier, particularly because some bloggers will be participating in a general election for the first time.

Currently, TBN leadership is working closely with the government to ensure that over 150 members based in different regions across Tanzania fully benefit from this important training.

Msimbe urged all bloggers in the country to contact the TBN Coordinator, Mr. Gadiola Emanuel, to confirm their details and addresses in order to participate in the training. He also encouraged those who have not yet joined TBN to do so in order to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

TBN is a network comprising bloggers who produce content in various fields including politics, sports, health, economy, and general news. Through this training, the bloggers are expected to improve their delivery of accurate and reliable information, thereby contributing to a transparent and accountable election environment.

*Government Launches 15274 Hotline to Ease Access to National ID Information

Dar es Salaam: The Government has urged citizens to use their mobile phones by dialing *15274 to easily access information related to National Identification Cards (NIDA). Speaking today, December 29, 2025, the Minister for Home Affairs, George Simbachawene, said the service will enable citizens to check the status of their National ID cards, including whether the card has been produced or not, with feedback provided within five days. He explained that through this number, citizens will receive important information regarding their National IDs, adding that damaged ID cards are expected to be replaced starting February 2026. “By using this number, you will be able to get information on whether your ID card has been produced. I emphasize that damaged ID cards will be issued in February 2026,” said Minister Simbachawene.
