SEQUIP PROJECT BUILDS 6 NEW SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN IRAMBA – DC MWENDA.
The Government, through the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP), has invested TZS 6.361 billion to construct six new secondary schools, expand infrastructure for Form 5 and 6 classes in six schools, and build teachers’ houses and toilets in Iramba District, Singida Region.
Providing an update on the education projects in Iramba District, District Commissioner Hon. Suleiman Mwenda stated that the construction of these schools will strengthen the education sector and improve students’ performance.
He named the newly constructed schools as follows: Maluga Secondary School at a cost of TZS 470 million, Ndulungu Secondary School (TZS 470 million), and Mtoa Darajani Secondary School (TZS 544.225 million).
Other projects include Makunda Secondary School (TZS 544.225 million), Kizega Secondary School (TZS 544.225 million), and Amali-Kitukutu Secondary School at a cost of TZS 1.6 billion. Additionally, 9-pit latrine blocks were built at Mtoa Secondary School for TZS 15.3 million and another 9-pit latrine block at Shelui Secondary School for TZS 15.3 million.
DC Mwenda further commended the Sixth Phase Government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for effectively overseeing the construction of one (2-in-1) teacher’s house at Maluga Secondary School for TZS 110 million, another at Ndulungu Secondary School for TZS 110 million, and one at Iramba Secondary School for TZS 95 million.
Regarding the expansion of infrastructure for Forms 5 and 6, Mwenda revealed that six schools benefited, including Lulumba Secondary School (TZS 352.8 million), Tumaini Secondary School (TZS 252.4 million), Ndago Secondary School (TZS 362.4 million), Kinambeu Secondary School (TZS 362.4 million), Kizaga Secondary School (TZS 316.4 million), and Shelui Secondary School (TZS 212 million).
