PRIME MINISTER CONCLUDES OFFICIAL VISIT TO BELARUS.
Invites industrialists, companies, and investors to invest in Tanzania
Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has concluded his two-day official visit to Belarus, during which he extended an invitation to industrialists, companies, and businesspeople to invest in Tanzania.
The Prime Minister informed the heads of institutions he met about several strategic investment areas, including higher education, health, agriculture, ICT, industrial development, mining, and tourism. He stated that President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan is committed to growing Tanzania’s economy by improving the investment climate in the country.
In line with President Samia’s vision, the Prime Minister assured manufacturers and company owners interested in investing in Tanzania of the Government’s readiness to cooperate by providing necessary support when they establish operations in the country. He urged manufacturers of tractors and agricultural machinery to open branches in Tanzania, including mechanization centers, to bring tractor services closer to farmers.
Furthermore, yesterday evening (Wednesday, July 23, 2025), the Prime Minister visited a factory that manufactures mining equipment and mining vehicles, as well as a factory producing rescue and firefighting equipment. He emphasized the importance of partnering with these industries to address the shortage of such equipment in Tanzania.
Companies and institutions visited by the Prime Minister included Belmedepreparaty (Republican Unitary Production Enterprise), a producer and distributor of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies; Minsk Tractor Plant – OJSC, a tractor and agricultural machinery manufacturer; Belarusian State Agricultural Technical University (BSATU); BelOMO, a manufacturer of electronic devices; BELAZ JSC, a producer and supplier of heavy mining machinery and trucks; and POZHSNAB LLC, a company that manufactures and distributes rescue and firefighting equipment.
Additionally, during the visit, Prime Minister Majaliwa met with his host, Mr. Alexander Turchin, and together they witnessed the signing of three agreements covering political consultations as well as cooperation in agriculture and education sectors.
They also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce aimed at promoting trade cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister Majaliwa also met with representatives of the Union of Belarusian Companies doing business with African nations (AFTRADE) and laid a wreath at the Heroes’ Memorial.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of State, President’s Office, Labour, Economy and Investment of Zanzibar, Mr. Shariff Ali Sharriff; Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Cosato Chumi; Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Dr. Khatibu Kazungu; Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Stephen Nindi; Tanzania’s Ambassador to Russia and Belarus, Ambassador Fredrick Kibuta; and other senior government officials.
