PRESIDENT SAMIA ALLOCATES TZS 3.2 BILLION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF TWO SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ROMBO DISTRICT THROUGH SEQUIP PROJECT.
The Sixth Phase Government under the leadership of H.E. President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has allocated a total of TZS 3.2 billion for the construction of two secondary schools in Rombo District, Kilimanjaro Region.
The funds have been distributed equally between two schools: Rombo Technical Secondary School (Amali) has received TZS 1.6 billion, and Holili Secondary School, which serves as the main institution, has also received TZS 1.6 billion. A new ward-level school, Prof. Adolf Mkenda Secondary School, has been built under Holili Secondary in the Mengwe Division, Holili Ward, Holili Village.
Under the first phase of funding, construction was completed and the buildings that are already operational include 8 classrooms and 1 office, 1 administration block, 3 science laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, 1 library, 1 ICT room, an incinerator, 8 pit latrines, and 1 water storage tank.
In the second phase, ongoing construction and finishing works involve 2 dormitories, a 2-in-1 teachers' house, 4 additional classrooms, and 8 more pit latrines.
At the same time, the government led by President Samia has allocated TZS 1.6 billion for the construction of a new and modern technical secondary school — Rombo Technical Secondary School (Amali) — located in the Mashati Division, Marangu Kitowo Ward, in Kitowo Village.
Currently, the construction is in its final stages, with key facilities nearing completion. These include 8 classrooms and 1 office, 1 administration block, 3 science laboratories (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology), a single staff residential house, a library, an ICT room, 8 pit latrines, an incinerator, and an underground water tank being used to store water for construction. The school also includes a motor vehicle workshop, 4 dormitories each capable of accommodating 80 students, and a dining hall.
Rombo Constituency in Kilimanjaro Region is represented by Hon. Prof. Adolf Mkenda (MP), who also serves as the Minister for Education, Science and Technology.
