POLEPOLE RESIGNS AS AMBASSADOR, CRITICIZES COUNTRY’S LEADERSHIP DIRECTION.

Tanzania’s Ambassador to Cuba and former Member of Parliament, Humphrey Hesron Polepole, has officially announced his resignation from his diplomatic post today, July 13, 2025.

In an open letter addressed to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan, and published on his social media pages, Polepole stated that his decision follows deep reflection on the current trajectory of national leadership.

He expressed that he made the decision with great sorrow after witnessing the decline of leadership ethics, the disregard for citizens’ rights and interests, and the erosion of genuine commitment to public service across various levels of government. Polepole noted that this situation has deprived him of peace of mind and confidence in the current system of governance.

Moreover, he strongly criticized the ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), arguing that the process of selecting candidates has been undermined by violations of the party's foundational principles. He said the motto "Party first, individual later" has been abandoned, with some leaders prioritizing personal or group interests over the institution of the party itself.

Nevertheless, Polepole thanked President Samia for the trust and opportunity to represent Tanzania abroad, emphasizing that history will ultimately offer the most accurate interpretation of his decision to resign.
