Minister Kabudi: Journalists Without Press Cards Are Breaking the Law.

The Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, has stated that any individual practicing journalism without possessing a Press Card issued by the Journalists Accreditation Board (JAB) is in violation of the Media Services Act.


Prof. Kabudi made the statement today, July 14, 2025, in Arusha during the opening of the African Media Councils Conference. During the event, he publicly displayed his own Press Card before inviting the Guest of Honour, the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Phillip Mpango, to address the gathering.


The Minister emphasized the importance of journalists adhering to the legal frameworks and professional standards of the field, particularly the formal accreditation process provided by the Board.
