LATRA Explains Passenger Information System in Detail.
The Head of the Public Relations and Communications Unit at the Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA), Salum Pazi, has elaborated on how the Passenger Information System allows individuals waiting for passengers, or those accompanying them, to know the real-time location of a bus.
Pazi made these remarks today in Dar es Salaam during the ongoing 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), commonly known as “Sabasaba.”
He explained that through this system, users can access information about the bus terminal they are at.
“For example, if you open the system while at the 88 Bus Terminal in Dodoma, you will see all incoming buses to that terminal, their current locations, and the estimated time of arrival,” he said.
“This completely eliminates the inconvenience of waiting without knowing when a bus will arrive or where it currently is, because the system simplifies this using modern artificial intelligence technology to calculate the bus's position,” he added.
Additionally, Pazi invited stakeholders from Dar es Salaam and surrounding areas to visit the LATRA pavilion at the exhibition to learn more about how transport regulation is being carried out.
He briefly highlighted some of the services offered, including registering bus attendants, registering drivers preparing to take certification exams, and processing online license applications.
