Institutions and Voter Education Organizations Urged to Adhere to the Law.

Institutions and civil society organizations that have been authorized to provide voter education during this year’s General Election have been urged to operate in strict compliance with the law, regulations, and directives issued by the Commission.
This call was made by the Chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Hon. Justice of Appeal Jacobs Mwambegele, while opening a meeting with these institutions and organizations today, July 30, 2025, in Dar es Salaam.
“I would like to urge those of you who have been granted permission to provide voter education to strictly observe the law, regulations, and the Commission’s directives throughout the implementation of this exercise,” said Justice Mwambegele.
He emphasized that during the election period, the Commission will work closely with the accredited institutions and organizations that have been authorized to conduct voter education.
“I urge you not to tire of encouraging stakeholders and the public at large to adhere to electoral laws, regulations, and the Commission’s directives. The Commission, on its part, will also continue to abide by the laws and regulations throughout all electoral processes,” he stated.
Justice Mwambegele further noted that during campaigns, experience has shown that political tensions often arise due to a lack of tolerance among some individuals. He therefore advised these institutions and organizations to use their platforms to educate citizens so that the elections can be conducted peacefully and orderly.
“During this campaign period, you must remind citizens through your platforms to remain vigilant and ensure they do not become the source of disrupting the peace and stability of our country,” he said.
According to Section 10(1)(g)(h) and (i) of the Independent National Electoral Commission Act No. 2 of 2024, the Commission is mandated to provide voter education in the country, coordinate and supervise institutions and organizations offering voter education, and to invite and register election observers.
For this year’s General Election, the Commission has granted permission to 164 institutions and organizations to provide voter education. Additionally, 76 local and 12 international organizations have been accredited as election observers.
Some representatives of these organizations stated that they have prepared to focus particularly on providing voter education to young people voting for the first time.
They stressed their commitment to conducting voter education in accordance with the law, regulations, and the Commission’s directives.
The Chairperson of the Malezi Foundation Network, Ms. Neema Kabale, said that this initiative aims to ensure that first-time registered voters gain sufficient understanding of the voting procedures.
