DEPUTY MINISTER KIPANGA PROUD OF SEQUIP’S IMPACT ON SECONDARY EDUCATION IN MAFIA.



The Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP) has been cited as an essential pillar in the education sector in Mafia District, Coast Region, through the implementation of the 2020–2025 election manifesto of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party.




This statement was made on July 20, 2025, by the Member of Parliament for Mafia Constituency and Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Omary Kipanga, during his constituency tour in the district.


Kipanga stated that over the past five years, four new secondary schools have been constructed at a total cost of TZS 1.717 billion, raising the total number of secondary schools in the district to ten, including six previously existing schools.


He listed the schools as follows: the construction of the new Kidawendui Secondary School along with a teacher’s house (2 in 1), built at a cost of TZS 565 million in Ndagoni Ward; the construction of the new Raphta Secondary School and a teacher’s house (2 in 1) in Kilindoni Ward at a cost of TZS 623.998 million; the new Amali Dongo Secondary School constructed at a cost of TZS 528.998 million in Kilindoni Ward; and the new Jimbo Secondary School built at a cost of TZS 528.998 million in Kirongwe Ward.


Deputy Minister Kipanga commended the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for approving the release of funds for the construction of the new schools. He emphasized that this move would strengthen the education sector in Mafia District and the nation at large. He also congratulated the team of experts for professionally drafting the proposal that led to the successful acquisition of the project.


At Jimbo Secondary School, which is under construction in Kirongwe Ward, a total of 8 classrooms are being built, along with 1 administration block, 1 ICT block, 1 library, 1 teacher’s house (2 in 1), science laboratories (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology), an underground water tank, a waste incinerator, and 8 pit latrines.


Hon. Kipanga also stated that at the new Raphta Secondary School under construction in Kilindoni Ward, 8 classrooms are being built, along with 1 administration block, 1 ICT block, 1 library, science laboratories (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology), a water tank tower, a teacher’s house (2 in 1), 2 small offices, a waste incinerator, and 16 pit latrines.


At the new Amali Secondary School being built in Kilindoni Ward, 8 classrooms are under construction, along with 1 administration block, 1 ICT block, 1 library, 1 teacher’s house, science laboratories (Chemistry and Biology), a water tank tower, and 8 pit latrines.


Deputy Minister Kipanga also stated that the new Kidawendui Secondary School under construction in Ndagoni Ward includes 8 classrooms, 1 administration block, 1 ICT block, 1 library, 1 teacher’s house (2 in 1), science laboratories (Chemistry, Physics, and Biology), a water tank tower, and 34 pit latrines.
