MD TWANGE CONTINUES TO PROMOTE THE USE OF CLEAN COOKING ENERGY THROUGH ELECTRICITY

📌 Utilizes part of his official tour to educate and distribute modern electric stoves to Regional and District Government Leaders in the Lake Zone.

📌 Emphasizes that citizens should not fear cooking with electricity as it is affordable.

In an effort to ensure that awareness of clean cooking energy reaches every Tanzanian, the Managing Director of TANESCO, Mr. Lazaro Twange, has used part of his official tour—conducted to inspect the progress of electricity projects in the Lake Zone—to promote the use of clean cooking energy through electricity among Regional and District Government leaders, in order to enhance public understanding.

During the visit, Mr. Twange educated the leaders and presented them with energy-efficient electric stoves to the Regional Commissioner of Shinyanga Hon. Anamringi Macha, Regional Commissioner of Simiyu Hon. Kenani Kihongosi, Regional Commissioner of Mwanza Hon. Saidi Mtanda, District Commissioner of Nyamagana Hon. Amina Makilagi, and District Commissioner of Shinyanga Hon. Wakili Julius Mtatiro. This initiative is part of TANESCO’s ongoing campaign to promote the use of clean cooking energy powered by electricity.

He stated that although the organization is primarily focused on ensuring the provision of reliable electricity, they are also tasked with implementing President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan's agenda to promote the use of clean cooking energy. He offered these stoves to the government leaders so they could personally experience the benefits and become strong ambassadors of this initiative within their communities.

“These stoves are energy-efficient and consume very little electricity while cooking. We have provided them to encourage you to help raise awareness among citizens. As you will be direct users, you will be credible witnesses and advocates for the advantages of these stoves, which will help change perceptions and encourage adoption,” emphasized Mr. Twange.

In response, Shinyanga District Commissioner Hon. Wakili Julius Mtatiro commended TANESCO for the initiative, recognizing it as a sincere effort to transform public understanding of clean energy usage, enabling people to abandon harmful energy sources that negatively impact health and the environment.

“We appreciate the gift of this stove and will use our community meetings to educate citizens on the importance of clean energy. Our people are trustworthy, and I believe they will understand. We now have the means to demonstrate this in practice,” explained Hon. Mtatiro.

Mr. Twange’s tour of the Lake Zone aimed at inspecting various electricity generation projects also served as a platform to reinforce the message of using clean electric cooking energy, continuing TANESCO’s broader campaign to support the Government’s clean energy agenda.
