Mbeto: Jussa Should Practice Clean Politics, Stop Insulting Mwalimu Nyerere

Our Reporter, Zanzibar

Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has condemned ACT-Wazalendo Deputy Chairperson Ismail Jussa Ladhu, urging him to refrain from calling the late Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, a "brutal leader," noting that Nyerere served the nation for 23 years with patriotism and integrity.

The party also warned Jussa against comparing his intellect to that of Mwalimu Nyerere, pointing out that even the late Seif Sharif Hamad never uttered defamatory remarks against Nyerere.

Khamis Mbeto Khamis, Secretary of the Special Committee of the National Executive Council (NEC) in Zanzibar for Ideology, Publicity, and Training, issued the warning, stating that Jussa should not insult or demean the legacy of the Father of the Nation, who is still respected worldwide.

Mbeto added that if Jussa prides himself on insulting and mocking leaders, he should start by insulting the late Seif Sharif Hamad, who has also passed away.

He expressed shock at hearing the ACT Deputy Chairperson referring to Mwalimu Nyerere as "brutal" and accusing him of expelling Maalim Seif and six others from CCM in 1987.

“What Jussa is doing on political platforms does not reflect clean and honorable politics. Politics of insults and slander are not acceptable in a nation that values dignity, like Tanzania,” said Mbeto.

He claimed that Jussa, while addressing a closed-door ACT-Wazalendo meeting in North 'A' District, North Unguja Region, not only made sarcastic remarks but also disrespected the name, dignity, and honor of the late Mwalimu Nyerere.

Furthermore, the spokesperson alleged that Jussa went as far as labeling all CCM leaders as ignorant, election thieves, irreligious, and lacking fear of God.

Mbeto also spoke about the upcoming General Elections this October, stating that the elections are not about revenge against anyone, but a democratic exercise as mandated by the Constitution and the law.

He emphasized that Jussa's remarks in the meeting could not only fuel hatred and resentment but also misused religion to demean others in the political arena.

“Jussa must know that Zanzibaris do not live with grudges, revenge, or hatred. Calling others ignorant and faithless clearly shows his intention to incite and spread hatred,” said Mbeto.

The CCM Publicity Secretary urged Jussa to stop mocking Mwalimu Nyerere, who not only brought independence and founded the nation and the Union but also laid the foundations of peace, national unity, and solidarity that still existarized version or one adapted for an international audience.
