The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Hassan Abbasi, on June 23, 2025, conducted an official visit to the Tabora Wildlife Park, popularly known as Tabora ZOO. The purpose of the visit was to inspect and assess the management of the park, during which he took the opportunity to encourage Tanzanians—especially those in the western zone, residents of Tabora Region, and nearby areas—to visit this unique attraction located in the heart of Tabora Municipality.

During the tour, Dr. Abbasi expressed satisfaction with the existence and operations of the park, which he described as a treasure trove of wildlife and natural beauty. He emphasized that Tabora ZOO is a vital component of domestic tourism and that the government is committed to undertaking major infrastructure improvements to attract even more visitors.

"This is a unique conservation site—with over 27 hectares right in the middle of Tabora town, it’s a big deal. I urge Tabora residents to take pride in this jewel; it’s a park made for you—to relax, to learn—not just for Tabora residents but also for students and people across this zone. You’re all warmly welcome," said Dr. Abbasi.

Additionally, the Permanent Secretary pledged that the government will continue enhancing the park by improving facilities such as resting and recreational areas for tourists, including children’s playgrounds, food and beverage spots, and expanding the number of wildlife species and water ponds to make the park more attractive.

During the visit, Dr. Abbasi witnessed various services offered by the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) through the park, including the construction of a Visitor Information Centre (VIC), animal enclosures, and the increased number of wildlife species such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and others.

Tabora ZOO is one of the few urban wildlife parks in the country and continues to serve as a unique attraction for tourists, thanks to its beautiful scenery and peaceful environment, placing it at the forefront of Urban Wildlife Tourism in Tanzania.
