BISHOP PROF. REJOICE NDALIMA CALLS FOR PEACE AND RECONCILIATION AHEAD OF THE GENERAL ELECTION.
Dar es Salaam.
Bishop Professor Rejoice Ndalima has called on all Tanzanians to uphold peace, mutual understanding, and national dialogue as the country heads toward the General Election — urging citizens to avoid conflicts that could lead to violence.
Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam, Bishop Ndalima emphasized the importance of both sides — those in power and those fighting for their rights — coming together to discuss and find a common ground for the sake of the nation.
> “We are going to the polls to elect leaders. It is important for people to listen to one another. There are those crying out because they feel hurt, and there are those in authority saying they will act firmly. But the true solution lies in dialogue and consultation, so that blood is not shed — because biblically, bloodshed brings a curse,” said Bishop Ndalima.
He added that in such a sensitive period, young people should maintain discipline and use respectful language, noting that “the noise from both sides is distressing to religious leaders,” whose role is to pray for everyone — both leaders and citizens alike.
> “Everyone must have a share. One cannot lose everything while another gains everything. There can be no reconciliation under such imbalance. We must seek common understanding so that no blood is shed,” he stressed.
Bishop Ndalima also urged religious leaders not to remain silent, but to offer guidance and take an active role in fostering national unity and reconciliation, emphasizing the importance of forgiveness among Tanzanians.
> “Those who are insulted should forgive. Jesus came down to earth and became a servant to redeem us, and we should follow that example of humility. Harshness and pride cannot solve our problems; we must all sit together and reason wisely,” he said.
Finally, Bishop Prof. Ndalima underscored that peace is the greatest legacy the nation can leave for future generations.
> “By protecting peace, we protect life, dignity, and the future of Tanzania. Let us not allow our differences to divide us — instead, let them teach us tolerance and forgiveness,” he concluded.
