SEQUIP PROJECT BOOSTS PASS RATE IN SINGIDA REGION – RC DENDEGO.




Residents have been urged to collaborate with the Sixth Phase Government, led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, in maintaining newly built school infrastructure to improve student performance in Singida Region.

This was stated by Singida Regional Commissioner, Hon. Halima Dendego, while addressing the evaluation of the education sector today, July 25, 2025. She noted that the regional leadership is committed to strengthening education following significant improvements, including the construction of new schools.

RC Dendego revealed that a total of 30 ward secondary schools have been built through the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP), along with the construction of a new girls’ school, Solya, in Manyoni District, and two new vocational schools – Kitukutu in Iramba District and Unyambwa in Singida Municipality.

She added that, following these developments, the pass rate for Form Four students in the region has increased from 87% in 2021 to 93% in 2024.

Hon. Dendego further highlighted that during the five-year implementation period of the CCM Election Manifesto (2020–2025), the region received TZS 25,058,738,146 to support education initiatives.

Moreover, the SEQUIP project has significantly increased the number of female students taking science subjects due to the completion of Solya Girls’ School, constructed at a cost of TZS 4.5 billion.

Since 2021, the region has seen the construction of 30 new ward secondary schools, Solya Girls’ School in Manyoni District, and two vocational schools – Unyambwa in Singida Municipality and Kitukutu in Iramba District.
